Penny is a family physician who has been practicing in South Calgary for the past 16 years. Borghesan is currently working as a Clinical Preceptor with the Department Of Family Medicine, teaching clinic at the South Health Campus. She has been involved in the Shared Mental Health Care Program for the past ten years, pairing consultants with family doctors in the primary care setting, as well as the Behavioral Health Consultant program since it began a few years ago. In her role, she has had the opportunity to expose Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students to these programs also. Borghesan served on the Board of Directors of the SAPCA physician association for seven years and is currently the physician representative for mental health for the South Calgary PCN representing about 155 physicians. In this regard, her goal is to collaboratively help support physicians in managing mental health concerns in primary care and to improve and facilitate access for patients struggling with these issues.
