Director, Occupational Health and Safety, BC Federation of Labour
Nina Hansen is the current Occupational Health and Safety Director for the BC Federation of Labour (BCFED), a role that involves contributing to policy development, providing training and education across the province, and working with varied stakeholders to promote safe and healthy workplaces. Prior to joining the directors’ team at BCFED, Nina worked for over 16 years as an occupational health and safety representative and workers’ advocate.
Nina’s background in advocacy has provided her with a particular understanding of workplace mental health. She has observed first-hand the challenges faced by workers living with a mental illness, as well as the many benefits gained by workplaces that take ownership of their role in promoting positive mental health. She believes that the Bottom Line Conference is an important platform for employers, service providers and workers to develop their own understanding of workplace mental health, by hearing real-life stories told from a variety of perspectives.
